CHINA LOTTERY PERFORMANCE: Jan - Apr 2010 UP 24%
For Jan to Apr 2010, total lottery sales recorded a growth of 24% to RMB48.73 billion (2009: RMB39.29 billion). Please refer to the attachment for breakdown.
The lottery sales information reveals:
I. WELFARE LOTTERY
Welfare Lottery accounted for about 58% (RMB28.30 billion) of total lottery sales for the period, up 25% period-on-period. Lotto games accounted for about 78.48% of total welfare lottery sales, followed by Instant Scratch Cards of about 14%, and VLT of about 7.5%.
a. Welfare Lotto
Welfare Lotto sales was RMB22.21 billion, up 13% period-on-period.
b. Welfare Instant Scratch Cards
Welfare Instant Scratch Cards sales was RMB3.97 billion, up 34% period-on-period.
c. VLT
VLT sales reached RMB2.12 billion. Strong momentum of growth maintained following the launch of new games across the nation since late 2009.

II. SPORTS LOTTERY
Sports Lottery accounted for about 42% (RMB20.43 billion) of total lottery sales for the period. Lotto accounted for about 60.5% of total Sports Lottery sales, followed by Instant Scratch Cards of about 24.28%, and Single Match Game of about 15.22%.
a. Sports Lotto
Sports Lotto sales increased by 16% period-on-period to approximately RMB12.36 billion.
b. Sports Instant Scratch Cards
Sports Instant Scratch Cards sales was RMB4.96 billion, up 24% period-on-period.
c. Single Match Game
Sports Single Match Game Sales was RMB3.11 billion, up 61% period-on-period due to nationwide rollout since December 2009.
