For December 2011, total lottery sales recorded a growth of 31% YOY to RMB22.48billion YOY (December 2010: RMB 17.19 billion). Please refer to the attachment for breakdown.

For Jan to December 2011, total lottery sales recorded a growth of 33% YOY to RMB 221.58 billion YOY (Jan to December 2010: RMB 166.25 billion). Please refer to the attachment for breakdown.

The lottery sales data reveals:

I. WELFARE LOTTERY

For December 2011, Welfare Lottery accounted for about 57.25% (RMB 12.87billion) of total lottery sales for the month, up 26% YOY. Lotto games accounted for about 72.26% of total welfare lottery sales, followed by Instant Scratch Cards of about 14.69%, and VLT of about 13.05%.

For Jan to December 2011, Welfare Lottery accounted for about 57.68% (RMB 127.8 billion) of total lottery sales for the period, up 32% YOY. Lotto games accounted for about 71% of total welfare lottery sales, followed by Instant Scratch Cards of about 15.68%, and VLT of about 13.32%.

a. Welfare Lotto

For December 2011, Welfare Lotto sales were RMB9,3billion, up 28% YOY.

For Jan to December 2011, Welfare Lotto sales were RMB 90.74 billion, up 24% YOY.

b. Welfare Instant Scratch Cards

For December 2011, Welfare Instant Scratch Cards sales were RMB 1.89billion, up 7% YOY.

For Jan to December 2011, Welfare Instant Scratch Cards sales were RMB 20.04 billion, up 39% YOY.

c. Video Lottery

For December 2011, VLT sales were 1.68 billion, up 37% YOY.

For Jan to December 2011, VLT sales reached RMB17.02 billion, up 83% YOY. Strong growth momentum is maintained following the launch of new games across the nation since late 2009. 

II. SPORTS LOTTERY

For December 2011, Sports Lottery accounted for about 42.75% (RMB9.61 billion) of total lottery sales for the month. Lotto accounted for about 59.63% of total Sports Lottery sales, followed by Instant Scratch Cards of about 19.25%, and Single Match Game of about 21.12%.

For Jan to December 2011, Sports Lottery accounted for about 42.32% (RMB93.78billion) of total lottery sales for the period. Lotto accounted for about 55.47% of total Sports Lottery sales, followed by Instant Scratch Cards of about 21.28%, and Single Match Game of about 23.25%.

a. Sports Lotto

For December 2011, Sports Lotto sales is approximately RMB 5.73billion, up 60% YOY.

For Jan to December 2011, Sports Lotto sales increased by 36% YOY to approximately RMB 52.02 billion.

b. Sports Instant Scratch Cards

For December 2011, Sports Instant Scratch Cards sales were RMB 1.85billion, up11% YOY.

For Jan to December 2011, Sports Instant Scratch Cards sales were RMB 19.96 billion, up 21% YOY.

c. Single Match Game

For December 2011, Sports Single Match Game Sales were RMB 2.03 billion, up 18% YOY.

For Jan to December 2011, Sports Single Match Game Sales were RMB 21.80 billion, up 48% YOY due to nationwide rollout since December 2009.
