Announced by the Ministry of Finance, for Feb 2013, total lottery sales recorded a negative growth of 16.6% YOY to RMB 16.865 billion (Feb 2012: RMB 20.217 billion).  The negative growth was due to calendar shift of Chinese New Year. In 2012, China’s lottery market was closed on Jan 22-28^th, while this year the lottery market was closed on Feb 9-15^th. In terms of daily sales, total lottery sales grew by 15.2% YOY to RMB 803.1 million. Please refer to the attachment for breakdown.

For Jan to Feb 2013, total lottery sales recorded a growth of 13.8% YOY to RMB 41.724 billion (Jan to Feb 2012: RMB 36.671 billion). Please refer to the attachment for breakdown.

The lottery sales data reveals:

I.    WELFARE LOTTERY

For Feb 2013, Welfare Lottery accounted for 58.65% (RMB 9.892 billion) of total lottery sales for the month, down 15.9% YOY. Welfare Lottery daily sales increased by 16.1% YOY to RMB 471.1 million. Lotto games, Instant Scratch Cards and VLT accounted for 70.74%, 12.22% and 17.03% of total welfare lottery sales respectively.

For Jan to Feb 2013, Welfare Lottery accounted for 58.90% (RMB 24.576 billion) of total lottery sales for the period, up 13.5% YOY. Lotto games, Instant Scratch Cards and VLT accounted for 73.93%, 9.44% and 16.64% of total welfare lottery sales respectively.

a. Welfare Lotto

For Feb 2013, Welfare Lotto sales were RMB 6.997 billion, down 17.3% YOY. Welfare Lotto daily sales increased by 14.2% YOY to RMB 333.2 million.

For Jan to Feb 2013, Welfare Lotto sales were RMB 18.168 billion, up 15.9% YOY.

b. Welfare Instant Scratch Cards

For Feb 2013, Welfare Instant Scratch Cards sales were RMB 1.209 billion, down 27.8% YOY. Welfare Instant Scratch Cards daily sales dropped by 0.2% YOY to RMB 57.6 million.

For Jan to Feb 2013, Welfare Instant Scratch Cards sales were RMB 2.319 billion, down 22.7% YOY.

c. Welfare Video Lottery

For Feb 2013, Welfare VLT sales were 1.685 billion, up 3.4% YOY. Welfare VLT daily sales increased by 42.7% YOY to RMB 80.2 million.

For Jan to Feb 2013, Welfare VLT sales reached RMB 4.089 billion, up 37.5% YOY.

II. SPORTS LOTTERY

For Feb 2013, Sports Lottery accounted for 41.35% (RMB 6.973 billion) of total lottery sales for the month, down 17.5% YOY. Sports Lottery daily sales increased by 14.0% YOY to RMB 332.1 million. Lotto games, Instant Scratch Cards and Single Match Game accounted for 60.43%, 16.50% and 23.07% of total Sports Lottery sales respectively.

For Jan to Feb 2013, Sports Lottery accounted for 41.10% (RMB 17.148 billion) of total lottery sales for the period, up 14.2% YOY. Lotto games, Instant Scratch Cards and Single Match Game accounted for 65.40%, 12.94% and 21.66% of total Sports Lottery sales respectively.

a. Sports Lotto

For Feb 2013, Sports Lotto sales were RMB 4.214 billion, down 16.3% YOY. Sports Lotto daily sales increased by 15.6% YOY to RMB 200.7 million.

For Jan to Feb 2013, Sports Lotto sales were RMB 11.214 billion, up 24.1% YOY.

b. Sports Instant Scratch Cards

For Feb 2013, Sports Instant Scratch Cards sales were RMB 1.150 billion, down 21.8% YOY. Sports Instant Scratch Cards daily sales increased by 8.1% YOY to RMB 54.8 million.

For Jan to Feb 2013, Sports Instant Scratch Cards sales were RMB 2.219 billion, down 15.0% YOY.

c. Sports Single Match Game

For Feb 2013, Sports Single Match Game sales were RMB 1.609 billion, down 17.3% YOY. Sports Single Match Game daily sales increased by 14.2% YOY to RMB 76.6 million.

For Jan to Feb 2013, Sports Single Match Game sales were a RMB 3.714 billion, up 10.2% YOY.
