CHINA LOTTERY PERFORMANCE: March 2010 UP 16% YOY; Jan to Mar 2010 UP 25% YOY
For Mar 2010, total lottery sales recorded a growth of 16% YOY to RMB 13.26 billion YOY (Mar 2009: RMB 11.45 billion). Please refer to the attachment for breakdown.
For Jan-Mar 2010, total lottery sales recorded a growth of 25% YOY to RMB 34.62 billion YOY (Jan-Mar 2009: RMB 27.80 billion). Please refer to the attachment for breakdown.
The lottery sales data reveals:
I. WELFARE LOTTERY
For Mar 2010, Welfare Lottery accounted for about 58.07% (RMB 7.70 billion) of total lottery sales for the month, up 15% YOY. Lotto games accounted for about 77.79% of total welfare lottery sales, followed by Instant Scratch Cards of about 14.03%, and VLT of about 8.18%.
For Jan-Mar 2010, Welfare Lottery accounted for about 58.35% (RMB 20.20 billion) of total lottery sales for the period, up 25% YOY. Lotto games accounted for about 80.25% of total welfare lottery sales, followed by Instant Scratch Cards of about 12.67%, and VLT of about 7.08%.
a. Welfare Lotto
For Mar 2010, Welfare Lotto sales were RMB 5.99 billion, up 2% YOY.
For Jan-Mar 2010, Welfare Lotto sales were RMB 16.21 billion, up 14% YOY.
b. Welfare Instant Scratch Cards
For Mar 2010, Welfare Instant Scratch Cards sales were RMB 1.08billion, up 29% YOY.
For Jan-Mar 2010, Welfare Instant Scratch Cards sales were RMB 2.56 billion, up 25% YOY.
c. Video Lottery
For Mar 2010, VLT sales reached RMB 0.63 billion (Nov 2010: 0.001 billion).
For Jan-Mar 2010, VLT sales reached RMB 1.43 billion. Strong growth momentum maintains following the launch of new games across the nation since late 2009.
II. SPORTS LOTTERY
For Mar 2010, Sports Lottery accounted for about 41.93% (RMB 5.56 billion) of total lottery sales for the month. Lotto accounted for about 59.53% of total Sports Lottery sales, followed by Instant Scratch Cards of about 23.38%, and Single Match Game of about 16.91%.
For Jan-Mar 2010, Sports Lottery accounted for about 41.65% (RMB 14.42 billion) of total lottery sales for the period. Lotto accounted for about 62.83% of total Sports Lottery sales, followed by Instant Scratch Cards of about 22.26%, and Single Match Game of about 14.91%.
a. Sports Lotto
For Mar 2010, Sports Lotto sales is approximately RMB 3.31 billion.
For Jan-Mar 2010, Sports Lotto sales increased by 21% YOY to approximately RMB 9.06 billion.
b. Sports Instant Scratch Cards
For Mar 2010, Sports Instant Scratch Cards sales were RMB 1.30 billion, up 15 % YOY.
For Jan-Mar 2010, Sports Instant Scratch Cards sales were RMB 3.21 billion, up 16% YOY.
c. Single Match Game
For Mar 2010, Sports Single Match Game Sales were RMB 0.94billion, up 74% YOY.
For Jan-Mar 2010, Sports Single Match Game Sales were RMB 2.15 billion, up 63% YOY due to nationwide rollout since December 2009.
