CHINA LOTTERY PERFORMANCE: Jan to July 2010 UP 23% YOY
For Jan-July 2010, total lottery sales recorded a growth of 23% YOY to RMB90.51 billion YOY (Jan-June 2009: RMB73.56 billion). Please refer to the attachment for breakdown.
The lottery sales data reveals:
I. WELFARE LOTTERY
Welfare Lottery accounted for about 58% (RMB52.55 billion) of total lottery sales for the period, up 25% YOY. Lotto games accounted for about 77% of total welfare lottery sales, followed by Instant Scratch Cards of about 14.8%, and VLT of about 8.2%.
a. Welfare Lotto
Welfare Lotto sales was RMB40.44 billion, up 11% YOY.
b. Welfare Instant Scratch Cards
Welfare Instant Scratch Cards sales was RMB7.78 billion, up 45% YOY.
c. Video Lottery
VLT sales reached RMB4.33 billion. Strong growth momentum maintained following the launch of new games across the nation since late 2009.
II. SPORTS LOTTERY
Sports Lottery accounted for about 42% (RMB37.96 billion) of total lottery sales for the period. Lotto accounted for about 57.4% of total Sports Lottery sales, followed by Instant Scratch Cards of about 24.5%, and Single Match Game of about 18%.
a. Sports Lotto
Sports Lotto sales increased by 10% YOY to approximately RMB21.79 billion.
b. Sports Instant Scratch Cards
Sports Instant Scratch Cards sales was RMB9.31 billion, up 5% YOY.
c. Single Match Game
Sports Single Match Game Sales was RMB6.86 billion, up 124% YOY due to nationwide rollout since December 2009.
