Announced by the Ministry of Finance, for Jan 2013, total lottery sales recorded a growth of approximately 51.1% YOY to approximately RMB 24.859 billion (Jan 2012: approximately RMB 16.454 billion). Please refer to the attachment for breakdown.

The lottery sales data reveals:

I.    WELFARE LOTTERY

For Jan 2013, Welfare Lottery accounted for approximately 59.07% (approximately RMB 14.685 billion) of total lottery sales for the month, up approximately 48.5% YOY. Lotto games, Instant Scratch Cards and VLT accounted for approximately 76.07%, 7.56% and 16.37% of total welfare lottery sales respectively.

a. Welfare Lotto

For Jan 2013, Welfare Lotto sales were approximately RMB 11.171 billion, up approximately 54.8% YOY.

b. Welfare Instant Scratch Cards

For Jan 2013, Welfare Instant Scratch Cards sales were approximately RMB 1.110 billion, down approximately 16.4% YOY.

c. Welfare Video Lottery

For Jan 2013, Welfare VLT sales were approximately 2.404 billion, up approximately 78.8% YOY.

II. SPORTS LOTTERY

For Jan 2013, Sports Lottery accounted for approximately 40.93% (approximately RMB 10.174 billion) of total lottery sales for the month, up approximately 55.0% YOY. Lotto games, Instant Scratch Cards and Single Match Game accounted for approximately 68.80%, 10.50% and 20.70% of total Sports Lottery sales respectively.

a. Sports Lotto

For Jan 2013, Sports Lotto sales were approximately RMB 7.000 billion, up approximately 74.9% YOY.

b. Sports Instant Scratch Cards

For Jan 2013, Sports Instant Scratch Cards sales were approximately RMB 1.068 billion, down approximately 6.2% YOY.

c. Sports Single Match Game

For Jan 2013, Sports Single Match Game sales were approximately RMB 2.106 billion, up approximately 47.7% YOY.

N.B. the nation’s lottery market was closed for the Chinese New Year Holidays from 22th to 28th January 2012 inclusive. CNY Holidays in 2013 were from 9th to 15th February.
