CHINA LOTTERY PERFORMANCE: Jan to May 2010 UP 22.8% YOY
For Jan-May 2010, total lottery sales recorded a growth of 22.8% YOY to RMB63.17billion YOY (Jan-May 2009: RMB51.43 billion). Please refer to the attachment for breakdown.
The lottery sales information reveals:
I. WELFARE LOTTERY
Welfare Lottery accounted for about 58.14% (RMB36.73 billion) of total lottery sales for the period, up 26% YOY. Lotto games accounted for about 77.6% of total welfare lottery sales, followed by Instant Scratch Cards of about 14.7%, and VLT of about 7.7%.
a. Welfare Lotto
Welfare Lotto sales was RMB28.5 billion, up 13% YOY.
b. Welfare Instant Scratch Cards
Welfare Instant Scratch Cards sales was RMB5.4 billion, up 40% YOY.
c. Video Lottery
VLT sales reached RMB2.83 billion. Strong growth momentum maintained following the launch of new games across the nation since late 2009.
II. SPORTS LOTTERY
Sports Lottery accounted for about 41.9% (RMB26.44 billion) of total lottery sales for the period. Lotto accounted for about 59.34% of total Sports Lottery sales, followed by Instant Scratch Cards of about 25.11%, and Single Match Game of about 15.54%.
a. Sports Lotto
Sports Lotto sales increased by 13% YOY to approximately RMB15.69 billion.
b. Sports Instant Scratch Cards
Sports Instant Scratch Cards sales was RMB6.64 billion, up 14% YOY.
c. Single Match Game
Sports Single Match Game Sales was RMB4.11 billion, up 62% YOY due to nationwide rollout since December 2009.
